When I said I was catching up two weeks ago, I guess I really meant that I was still in catch up mode. I'm not sure why, but time seems to be simultaneously crawling and racing by. Crawling because even the simplest tasks are taking forever. But then the end of the day arrives suddenly, before I've accomplished much of anything. Confession time -- I finally finished writing and mailing our holiday cards last week. So pathetic! But now done and I'm glad I followed through.
At least the unintended hiatus from blogging has helped me realize how much I enjoy it. I'm one of those people who has started -- and eventually abandoned -- countless journals. Why?? I love to write. Its so satisfying when I actually do it. And yet the journals always fall to the bottom of the to-do list, buried by the mundane and more pressing needs of daily life. LIke making meals. And sleep. And Sudoku puzzles. But the blog feels different. More interactive. More visual. Definitely more fun!
OK, I vaguely recall that I promised to share some of my holiday gift creations. Here is a coaster and cocktail napkin set I made for my grandmother. She has ladies over for bridge and she Serves Cocktails And Entertains so I thought she would enjoy these. She is also the epicenter of crafting in the family. She "gets it."
The quilted coasters are from Last Minute Patchwork. The little napkins are a simple, double-sided, 6 inch square. I embellished each one with a wool felt flower cut with my Sizzix and finished off with a button center. (Yes I am probably the last Sizzix user standing, but I love that it cuts felt and craft foam and so I keep it.)
These ended up being kind of hard to part with. But, since we really don't Have Cocktail Parties, I know they'll be happier at Grandma's house.
I am so happy you are back! I know what you mean about Journals. I have done the same thing over and over.
Your little cocktail set is adorable! Love it when you post your creations.

Hope - I love this set, glad you're back to blog land - I hope to follow suit soon... The little felt flower really finishes it off nicely, so you just hang onto that Sizzix ;-)
As a fellow fabric lover, I thought you might enjoy this, from one of my other favorite bloggers: http://howaboutorange.blogspot.com/2008/01/my-fabric-is-finished.html
