I bought a copy of this wonderfully inspiring book a few weeks ago and have been thumbing through it daily ever since. It was almost impossible to decide which project to try first. This adorable little pin cushion won out.
Next I made a set of the rick rack edged napkins.
These were so fast and easy to make -- and they look so sweet -- that I immediately decided I will make sets of them as holiday gifts for family members. They would also be great to keep on hand for hostess gifts. My only problem -- finding quality, cotton rick rack by the yard. The Wright's poly rick rack, which is the only kind I can find near me, is just terrible for this project. It takes an entire package to do one napkin. It doesn't hold up to a hot iron. The ends fray, so you must use Fray-Check. I know there is better rick rack out there but I am having a terrible time finding it.
Hi Hope,
This week is my official 'delurk on my favorite blogs' week - so here I am killing two birds with one stone! Delurking AND telling you about two sites where I have purchased rick rack by the yard - I don't know if its all cotton but surely the site owners could fill you in.
http://www.franticstamper.com/ribbons.htm (I have MANY yards of the lime green and orange rick rack left over from some baby shower invites - if you want it - its yours.)
(OK I said 'two' but I checked and the other place is selling nylon rick rack by the yard... sorry!)
Anyway, I LOVE the little pincushion. You know how to rock the Amy Butler. Want to make me a shower curtain? ;-) (kidding!)

Try this place:

It's a lot of ric rac but it's super cheap, comes in many sizes and it's cotton. You could probably make like, 200 napkins...maybe some for Moi? Heehee.
